WELCOME

Welcome to The Empire Monthly Challenge! You are all welcome to stretch your artist legs. Get out of your comfort zone or artist block, and unleash your full potential!

DETAILS

There are no winners or prizes, it's all about challenging yourself.

The Deadline is purely to indicate the start of the next challenge, if you need more time to finish up that's okay.

Modifiers are optional rules for the challenge that allow you to push your skills even further!

PROP / HYBRID

Ancient tech

A combination of the challenges (and fun!) of the other props, wrapped in a package of very interesting mix of themes.

‣
Modifier (The ghost inside the Shell)

Don’t stop at the surfaces and some hinted detail in the crevices, but actually create an interior and an opening mechanism like the Geisha robots you can see in Ghost in The Shell: LINK

PROP / HARD SURFACE

Retro futurism

Eager for a collection of hard surface challenges all in one prop? Dive into the details of this mask, who doesn’t love a good mech-looking helmet, and retro technology?

‣
Modifier (Animation)

Imagine what parts would light up, project laser beams, present animations etc, and animate them in your own way. It can be shader work, rig/geo animation or both

PROP / SCULPT

Period ceremonial mask

Its combination of soft curves and creases makes this design great practice for modelling or sculpting

‣
Modifier (Stylization)

Rather than making a realistic 3D copy of this, choose a style that you want to translate this prop into. Ghibli? Cell shaded? Dishonored? This is a great exercise for any artist to go through!
