The thoughts on Linkedin go back and forth but I as well as other professionals consider it a important resource when it comes to getting work in our industry.

Our industry is new and tech-related. Social medias are part of our lives, so most of people in the VG industry use socials. However, the most likely to check on LK on a daily basis are Leads, Managers, Directors and OF COURSE Human Resources. And this is where the game begins, cause it's gonna be a hunt on both side. Being active on a "strictly professional" social like Linked-In shows in a first place that you are serious, mature, and wish to use every platform you can to build your network and sell yourself (and not the casuals ones like Twitter or Insta). It's a big plus for leads and HR to see someone with a proper, active Linked-In account. You need to take care of your digital image as much as your real one. Complete the profile, add a maximum of documents: that way you're gonna show how organize you are and how you take care of what people see of you. It gives a hint on how you treat your art but also how clean and invested you can be as showing the best image you can on every field. Adding people from whom you want or get noticed will make you noticed. Same thing as posting stuff once or twice a week : They will see your name, and unconsciously it will make a difference the day you name will show up in a pile of 50 CV they'll have to deal with. Not only posting, but liking and sharing stuff will get the same result. But again, for it to work, you need to add TONS of people. It's day 30-40 people from each company you're interested in. Focus on Leads crew, HR crew and other arty-peeps. Those, if they happen to like your work, will give the exposure you want and need to be noticed Linked-In is the best way for a Lead/HR crew to know you before you apply. It gives you a nice advantage compared the to the rest of the 50 CV they'll have to deal with. Your name will, one way or another, ring a bell unconsciously if they saw it prior. As a junior, you still haver everything to learn on the skill side. But you want to show that you're the kind of colleague you wish to work with and how motivated you are to learn and evolve.
